Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate and talented Technical Artist to join our team, working on our flagship survival horror game, The Lost Wild. You'll be instrumental in bridging the gap between Art and Programming. You will be working alongside brilliant artists, animators, designers, and programmers to help bring this ambitious game to life.
You'll be critical to elevating our games’ visual fidelity and assisting artists’ and designers’ workflow. As the sole tech artist, you will guide and collaborate with the team on technical budgets, constraints, and the overall performance of the project. You will help inform and guide the team’s technical endeavors and rendering features.
What the Job Entails
Maintaining and optimising our shader library and material functions
Creating and spearheading tech-art features that include working with material weather effects, interactive foliage, and water systems
Working on tools to assist environment artists within Unreal Engine 5
Acting as the bridge between Art and technical teams
Profiling and optimising our games’ rendering, establishing workflows and techniques for Artists to push their work to the limits of the technical budgets
Assisting in asset validation and pipelines between Artist tools and the Engine
Researching and prototyping new rendering or technical features of the engine that may assist the vision of the game
Requirements
3+ years in AA/AAA game development
Strong experience with Unreal Engine
Strong knowledge of physically based rendering and materials
A good understanding of how rendering works in game engines
Scripting and Blueprint experience
A good eye for detail and an artistic sensibility
A self-sufficient and proactive work ethic
Great communication and a willingness to collaborate
Desirable
Involvement in at least one shipped title
A portfolio showcasing fine art or 3D modeling, texturing, and animation experience
C++ experience
Python experience and knowledge of Maya/3DS Max
Passion for the survival horror genre in general
